Nearly $1 Billion in Stimulus Money Already at Work in Illinois, According to Recovery.org

As of April 17, $896 million dollars being spent in Prairie State; transportation, infrastructure leading categories

11,657 jobs credited to the recovery spending

Seattle, WA — More than $896 million in federal stimulus funding is currently being spent in Illinois, according to Recovery.org. The website was launched March 31st to track every dollar of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act spending by federal, state and local government agencies.

Roads and bridges have accounted for more than $676 million of the spending so far, with facilities making up another $186 million and airports $21 million. An updated category tally is listed below, while real-time tracking of state, county, and city spending projects are available at www.recovery.org.

According to a federal formula, at least 11,657 Illinois jobs are being supported by the Recovery Act spending.
