WHY: There has been a tremendous amount of discussion centered on President-elect Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package that has outlined a significant increase in federal spending on the U.S. infrastructure. This webcast, led by experts in the areas that will be most impacted by this initiative, will help clarify where those dollars will likely be allocated, how quickly this funding will happen and where the opportunities for businesses will be.
Companies need to be prepared for the breadth of projects – hundreds of billions of dollars worth – coming from state, local and educational agencies. Given the slowdown in the private sector, businesses must be ready to pursue these projects.
In this discussion, moderated by Onvia Executive Vice President Irv Alpert, each of the panelists will interpret what is happening for attendees and delve into what businesses can expect from the stimulus – and what they need to do to compete and win the imminent opportunities. Following the discussion, there will be a Q&A session, during which attendees can get their questions answered by the experts.
All registered attendees will receive a copy of Onvia’s 2009 Government Market Outlook, which summarizes findings of a November 2008 survey of more than 2,400 government officials at state, local and educational entities. The survey looked at anticipated spending in each of the venues, throughout the country and across the categories of infrastructure, technology and business services, including different subsets of these categories. This data, which reflects the current economic downturn, coupled with the details from this webcast, will help prepare attendees for winning government-funded business in 2009.
